Google has launched a print campaign in India in tier 2 cities Nagpur, Jaipur, Ahmedabad etc where variations of the ad shown alongside have been seen in city supplements as reported by pluggd. These ads are all targeted at people using google for searching air tickets which along with financial services is India's most lucrative online advertising sector and is google's largest money spinner in India.Google dominates Indian search market with a 81.4% market share and knows that to get more users it will have to grow the overall pie and hence it has always experimented in advertising in city supplements earlier also for local search as well as sms search but this is the first time ads have been seen for google search itself. Interesting the communication message is different in different cities varying from "cheap tickets Goa" in Nagpur to "cheap tickets kerala" in ahmedabad based probably on google search data which shows what is popular in each areas. Google has been actively trying to grow Internet market with features like Internet buses which have travelled to interiors of India trying to spread Internet awareness in India which can only be good for those who are already in this segment.
