Yahoo India in continuation of its new Search brand campaign has now launched a World Search Championship and is offering lots of gadgets as prizes like an N96 , PS3 and others in order to highlight its new Gluepages search. Aim:The aim of the campaign is to get people visiting yahoo to sample the new search since questions in the championships are designed such that you can answer them fastest using the yahoo search only.On a marketing side this one is neat though old trick of sampling wherein you get the user to sample yahoo search and hope that the product is good enough to get the users hooked on. Target Segment: The targets are the heavy internet users who perform more number of searches and are more interested in clicking on search ads than a normal users and so the prizes are all coveted gadgets like N96,PS3 and laptops which appeals to this segment. Can this marketing campaign turn devoted Google users in India ( a marketshare of 80%) into Yahoo search users that is very unlikely since the fact remains that the need of the user is to find the desired information and speed of getting information is not the actual painpoint but still I personally love to see Yahoo India actually competing with Google India.

Did you play the game? The last time I checked the record time was 25 seconds! That is just impossible without some kind of fraud. An average of 2.5 sec to read the question, click in the answer space, type in the answer and press the radio button....all in 2.5 sec!! NO WAY! Anything below 45 sec is impossible. Or am I wrong?
