I simply love this ad Tata Sky has launched its new tv commercial featuring Aamir Khan in a Punjabi speaking ardhanarishawar (half man half woman) avataar.
Objective:
  • The objective of this commercial is to clarify the brand name since a lot of people believed that the word ‘sky’ in the brand name implies a satellite service that comes from the sky and surprisingly this point was not made earlier when the brand had launched however better late than never.Tata Sky is a 80:20 joint venture between Tata Sons and BSkyB, a Rupert Murdoch company.
Message:
  • With this commercial they want to convey the message that TATA Sky offers you world class technology of UK based company Sky and long standing trust and integrity of the Tata group.
  • The master stroke was getting Aamir Khan as brand ambassador and with him portraying a couple in argument.Through the couple’s argument, Tata Sky hopes to propagate its theory that “no one understands India like the Tatas and no one understands DTH technology like Sky”.
Interestingly competitor Dish has Shahrukh as brand ambassador and it makes for a nice celeb warfare through ads between the two.For the moment enjoy the video of the ad below
